The purpose of the ASA is to ensure that all adverts shown are acceptable and appropriate for the public.
When judging adverts, the ASA uses specific codes. The CAP code for adverts in cinema, press, posters and online. The other code is the BCAP. This is responsible for writing and maintaining the code of broadcast advertising.
From the 1st of March marketing communications on websites will be regulated by the ASA.
